NEW POLITICAL APPOINTMENTS IN NIGERIA


......Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was on Thursday, 29 May 2003, at Abuja, the Federal Capital, sworn in as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for a second-term. The full text of the Address delivered by President Obasanjo on that occasion is attached for information.

2.......In line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Obasanjo immediately proceeded to issue a proclamation dissolving the National Assembly and the inauguration of a new one. Consequently, the National Assembly was convened on Tuesday, 3 June 2003, during which its principal officers were elected as follows:
